This is the official website of the UPSIDE trial.

The aim of this international randomized study is to determine the optimal treatment strategy in early diffuse cutaneous systemic sclerosis (dcSSc): the effect of stem cell transplantation (SCT) as upfront therapy compared with that of immunosuppressive medication in early dcSSc, with respect to survival and prevention of major organ failure, safety and the impact on skin thickening, visceral involvement, functional status, and quality of life.
This study is initiated and coordinated by the University Medical Centre Utrecht, the Netherlands.
